Jalisco Highlands
The Jalisco Highlands, or Los Altos de Jalisco, is one of Mexico’s most renowned tequila-producing regions. Situated in the northeastern part of Jalisco, its high elevation, cooler climate, and rich red volcanic soil allow Blue Weber agave to grow slowly and develop naturally sweeter, fruitier, and more floral flavors than agave from the lowlands. Many artisanal tequila makers rely on agave from the Highlands to craft tequilas with distinctive character, complexity, and balance. These unique growing conditions and traditional cultivation methods have earned the Jalisco Highlands a reputation for producing some of the finest and most flavorful tequilas in the world.
