Raicilla
Raicilla is a traditional Mexican spirit made from wild or cultivated agave, primarily produced in the western regions of Jalisco and Nayarit. Often considered a distant relative of tequila and mezcal, Raicilla is crafted using small-batch, artisanal methods that have been passed down for generations. The agave hearts are typically roasted in earthen pits, fermented naturally, and distilled in copper or clay stills, giving the spirit a distinctive smoky, earthy, and sometimes fruity character. Its flavors vary greatly depending on the agave species, terroir, and production techniques, resulting in a highly expressive and unique spirit. Raicilla’s deep cultural roots and commitment to traditional craftsmanship have made it a growing favorite among enthusiasts seeking authentic Mexican agave spirits beyond tequila and mezcal.
